Summer and fall registrations begins in MarchThe process to move our current students toward Summer I, Summer II, and Fall enrollment began in late January with the availability of priority registration appointments. Simply put, priority registration allows our continuing students to get "first dibs" on the classes they need and at the times they prefer. It also provides a side benefit to the institution by pacing registration-related traffic in our buildings, on GCC phone lines, and online student services as well, so systems are less likely to become overwhelmed.Enrollment Services strives to take the mystery out of priority registration by talking to students during routine interactions, making classroom presentations, posting fliers and electronic communications. Here's the process in a nutshell: A) a continuing student visits or calls the Enrollment Center or GCC North for an appointment; B) staff enters the appointment into the Student Information System; C) when the appointment day and time arrives, the student's access to Summer and Fall registration is "unlocked" in SIS, allowing the student to enroll in-person, online, or by operator-assisted phone call. Students will be able to register at or after their appointment time. Generally speaking, students who request their priority appointment early in the process will be able to register the earliest; however, continuing students are split into several different categories for the purpose of issuing priority appointments and Honors students, for example, receive the earliest appointment slots. Priority registration activity for continuing students takes place from March 24 through April 1. Open registration begins for all students on April 4. - submitted by Suzy Cutler, supervisor, Admissions, Registration and Records |
