RAVE and Email Scam Alert Issued

Early in January, a GCC student received a scam request to use a credit card and pay $200 to get financial aid funds released. The following info was quickly sent to GCC students by College Advancement using RAVE and social media:

SCAM ALERT: If you are waiting on financial aid, please DO NOT reply to phone calls or other messages from anyone asking for your personal information. GCC Financial Aid will NEVER ask for a credit card to hold your funds. Official emails from GCC will be delivered to your official student email (MEID@mariopa.edu) or your Student Center in my.maricopa.edu. The only time information about your bank account should be given is when setting up direct deposit through the verified Maricopa Citi Prepaid website. If you have questions about the legitimacy of a phone call, email or text not received through your official student email account regarding your financial aid disbursement, please call 623-845-3684.
