GCC Names Student Academic Team

Four high-achieving GCC students have been named to the All-Arizona Academic Team and compete for first team honors to be announced this spring – Jason Tadano and Brett Velez from GCC main plus Samanatha Diane Uphoff and Erin Murray from GCC North. Each of the students receives a two-year tuition waiver for Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University or University of Arizona as well as a cash stipend. The cash award is determined by their state ranking -- first, second or third team -- to be announced in early spring.

Community college scholars from all over the state compete to be named to the first team. In addition to the Arizona recognition, first team students compete for placement on the All-USA Academic Team sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, USA Today and the American Association of Community Colleges. Members of the national team will be announced later this spring in the education edition of USA Today.
