GCC Launches STARS Scholarship ProgramGlendale Community College has partnered with the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation to launch an enhanced, student-friendly scholarship application process called STARS. Launched on Aug. 8, the new online system allows students, for the first time, to receive confirmations, acceptance letters and surveys by electronic messaging. Deadline for STARS applications is Sept. 16.
"The STARS application wizard helps students find the scholarships for which they are best suited with just a click of the mouse," says Frances Mateo, GCC coordinator of Development and Scholarship Relations. "The 2011-2012 scholarships and their criteria details are listed and, in addition to the wealth of scholarships previously offered, we have added 10 more."
Once they've submitted their applications, students can return at any time to check on the results. To make the new STARS process even easier, the following workshops are being held:
On the main campus
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, Business & Information Technology room 105
2 - 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, Business & Information Technology room 105
Noon - 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, Business & Information Technology room 104
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, building A (Agua Sal) room 103
From 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Sept. 15, Coordinator Mateo will be at the computer pods in the main campus Enrollment Center to advise students who are filing scholarship applications.
