Honors Moves Into New DigsThe final pieces of the O-7 renovation project are being put together with an open house planned from 2 - 4 p.m. Aug. 30. The Honors program has moved into their new home and their bright awning is up. The centrally located facility provides 11 refreshed offices for faculty and staff and four special purpose rooms.
The following faculty are now residing in 07: Heather Merrill, Nancy Oreshack, Debbie Albury, Jennifer Lane, Bill Lamkin, Christine Moore, Brandon Cleworth, Ruth Callahan, Steve Emrick and Sandra Amoroso.
One of the special rooms is a group study site for students that is with equipped with computing stations and a media presentation system. There is a lounge for prospective students and their parents who are waiting for their interviews. The third is a conference room with media presentation system and, fourth, a workroom with copier station.
The most prominent "behind the scenes" feature is a complete new HVAC package with an updated energy management system. Also, the restrooms were completely upgraded to ensure they are ADA compliant. The facility was provided new furnishings in all its spaces and will have video monitors mounted in the study room and lounge when funding permits. - submitted by Al Gonzales, director of Facilities Management
