Athletics: Football

2014 Signing Class

Glendale has always believed that winning can be done with Arizona prospects and the vast majority of the 2014 signing class comes from in-state. "Our blue print has always been to recruit in-state heavy," says head coach Mickey Bell. "I believe there are some very talented football players that get overlooked and I am very happy with the class we signed on signing day. I don't like to single out any one player but there are some talented kids in this group."

Here are the players that inked with GCC on signing day and will wear the black and red next fall.

Quarterback

  • Brian Woodward Brophy (6-3 200 ) Woodward is an all-state safety but will get his first crack at quarterback at Glendale. Threw for 1,258 yards and 11 TDs as a senior while playing for former QB Scooter Molander.

    Running Back

  • Kaine Bayze - Prescott - (5-10 180) - Conference Player of the Year as a senior. Rushed for 1,469 yards and 20 TDs.

  • Corey Brown Sunrise Mountain (5-11 205) 1st team all-section as a senior after rushing for 1,189 yards and 19 TDs.

  • J.J. Granados - Las Cruces (NM) - (5-10 180) - Scored 33 TDs as a senior and was a 1st team all-state pick. Helped team win the 5A state title.

  • Semisi Pulu Arcadia (5-10 255) 1st team all-section as a senior after rushing for 787 yards and 17 TDs.

    Wide Receiver

  • Amadou Gueye Carl Hayden (6-4 180) 1st team all-section as a senior. Caught 29 passes for 469 yards and 3 TDs.

  • Ridge Harmon Eisenhower HS in WA (6-1 175) All-conference selection after leading his league in receiving yards and catches. Caught 58 passes for 917 yards. Also scored 6 times as a returner.

    Tight End

  • Kody Low Bagdad (6-2 200) Helped Bagdad win the D6 state title. Was an all-state DE that made 62 tackles and 17 sacks. Caught 19 passes for 452 yards and 7 TDs.

    Offensive Line

  • Tony Castro Washington (6-3 245) 1st team all-section on both sides of the ball. Also a four-year all-section goalkeeper in soccer.

  • Chad Fulton Mohave (6-4 240) Named 2nd team all-section as a senior.

  • Anthony Fuentes Agua Fria (6-5 300) Named 1st team all-section as a senior.

  • Midhat Jakupovic Goldwater (6-7 270) Played football for the first time as a senior and was named 2nd team all-section as a DE. Also starting center on basketball team.

  • Colten Martin Desert Heights Prep (6-4 230) Played football for the first time as a senior and started both ways for a team that won the D1 Charter League State title. First player in school's history to sign an athletic LOI.

  • Jordan Natt Carl Hayden (6-4 320) Two-way starter and all-section on both sides of the ball.

  • Kyle Spight Mountain Pointe (6-2 235) Named 2nd team all-section while helping the Pride to the D1 state title.

  • Marquez Tucker Hamilton (6-4 230) Named HM all-section as a senior.

    Defensive Line

  • Nate DiFlorio Mountain Ridge (6-0 330) Made 42 tackles and 7 TFLs as a senior.

  • Slade Farrow - Casa Grande - (6-2 250) - Made 44 tackles and 1 sack as a senior.

  • Diante Flowers Westview (6-0 210) Named 2nd team all-section after making 57 tackles and 7 sacks.

  • Rayshawn Henderson - Canyon Springs (NV) - (6-1 290) - Injured half of senior year but still made 35 tackles and 3 sacks. Held an offer from NAU.

  • A.J. Johns Pinnacle (6-3 220) Had 45 tackles, 4 sacks and an INT for a score as a senior 2nd team all-section pick.

  • Clay Low Bagdad (6-3 265) Was named the D6 Player of the Year. Made 55 tackles and 7 sacks while helping Bagdad to D6 state title.

  • C.J. Ruacho Millennium (6-1 320) Named 1st team all-section after making 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks as a senior.

  • Jared Tiefenthaler Prescott (6-1 270) 1st team all-section selection. Made 48 tackles and 10 sacks.

  • Josh Turner Apollo (6-4 230) Made 46 tackles and 7 sacks and was named 1st team all-section as a senior.

  • Andrew Vega Peoria (6-3 205) Made 60 tackles, 11 TFLs and 3 sacks while being named 1st team all-section.

    Linebacker

  • Ricky Bradley - Higley - (6-0 225) - 1st team all-section pick as a senior after making 127 tackles and 2 sacks.
  • Cody Carrel Westview (6-1 205) Led the state in sacks with 19 and was named 1st team All-Arizona.

  • Byron Evans Phoenix Christian (6-1 210) 1st team all-section and all-state pick as a senior. Made 137 tackles and 4 sacks.

  • Matt Rodriguez Centennial (5-11 195) Two-way starter that was named 2nd team all-section as a RB. Rushed for 670 yards and 8 TDs. Made 28 tackles on defense.

  • Sam VerStraten Shadow Ridge (6-0 220) Named 2nd team all-section as a senior. Made 58 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 INT.

  • Jake Walters Liberty (6-0 190) Named 1st team all-section as a senior. Made 98 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

    Defensive Back

  • Isaiah Bradley Saguaro (5-10 185) Named 2nd team all-section while helping Saguaro win the D3 state title. Made 38 tackles and 2 INTs.

  • Nick Brown - Florence - (5-10 180) - One time commit to Arizona State, Brown was an all-state performer as a senior. Brown did a little bit of everything; rushed for 1,351 yards and 15 TDs and caught 4 TDs.

  • Deante Manlove - Overland (CO) - (5-9 165) - All-conference pick as a senior. Made 44 tackles and 2 INTs.

  • D.J. Townsend Westview (6-0 185) Named 2nd team all-section after making 45 tackles.

  • Ryan Wood Sunrise Mountain (6-3 180) Versatile enough to play corner or safety. Wood made 25 tackles and 4 INTs as a senior while being named 1st team all-section.

    Special Teams

  • Patrick Murray - (5-9 155) - 1st team all-Arizona kicker as s senior.
