Gauchos on a Two Game Win Streak

Week 6: 35-27 win vs. New Mexico Military

After a tough loss to nationally ranked Snow College, the Gauchos rebounded and handed NMMI their second loss of the year.

The GCC offense had a breakout performance led by QB Kevin Yost (Mt. Ridge) and RB Brian Conley (Westview). Yost completed 17 of 23 passes for 270 yards and 2 TDs. His TDs went to Terense Wilson (Buckeye) and Delton Prescott (Washington). Conley rushed for 103 yards and a TD.

Defensively, the Gauchos were led by Ray Cottman (Ironwood Ridge) and Josh Taylor. They had 5 and 7 tackles respectively.

Week 7: 49-19 win vs. Phoenix College

Glendale avenged an early season 8-2 loss to the Bears with a dominating 49-19 win.

GCC rushed for 300+ yards, 193 of which came from Brian Conley (Westview). John Hughes (Centennial) got the scoring started for the Gauchos with a 25 yard scoring pass from Kevin Yost (Mt. Ridge) on the games opening drive. Hughes also had multiple returns that set the offense up with great field position. Yost had another good performance, going 11 for 14 for 134 yards and 2 TDs. He also had two rushing scores. TE Andrew Augsberger (Moon Valley) grabbed his first college TD.

DE Rusty Fernando (Apache Junction) continues to have a great freshman season, recording 9 tackles and a sack. His sack was one of four made by the Gaucho D. Eustice Miles, Kyle Weinandt and Juan Ramos (Centennial) had the other three. LB Brenin Brooks (Greenway) contributed 8 tackles and LB Anthony Rose (Marcos de Niza) made his first collegiate INT.

Glendale (4-3) plays host to Mesa (0-5) this Saturday.
