Off-Season Update With Gaucho Football

Glendale finished the 2008 season 8-2 and ranked #7 in the nation by the NJCAA. That in-season success has translated to off-season success. Here are updates on some of the players that have signed, will sign or have received scholarship offers.

Midyear Signees

Safety Winston Venable was named 1st team All-America by the NCJAA. He committed to Boise State and signed in December and is already there and enrolled in classes.

Offensive tackle Brandon Harris accepted his offer from Southeast Missouri State in December and he is already enrolled and taking classes. Brandon chose SEMO over an offer from Texas Southern.

Defensive tackle JJ Sanchez also signed with SEMO and enrolled in January. He also had an offer from Charleston Southern.

Offensive tackle Adam Stewart signed with Pittsburg State over offers from Midwestern State, Tarleton State and Central Missouri State.

Linebacker Adam Beauchamp signed with Missouri State over Idaho State will compete for the starting middle backer job for the Bears this Spring.

Defensive tackle John Sobzcuk signed with McPherson.

Cornerback Brandon Hill signed and enrolled at Baker University in Kansas. Hill also had an offer from Fayetteville State.

May Grads

Cornerback Rajric Coleman has committed to Utah State. He had offers from Texas Southern, Northern Colorado, Eastern Washington and Portland State.

Linebacker Jarrid Nash has committed to Idaho State.

Cornerback Lyle Brown currently has offers from Weber State and Eastern Washington and has made official visits to both schools.

Defensive tackle Alex Licano was offered by Idaho State and Charleston Southern.

Linebacker Nick Webb has an offer from Colorado State at Pueblo.

Linebacker Dyrell Halcy has an offer from Colorado State at Pueblo.

Running back Jordan Scott has an offer from Fayetteville State.

Running back Mike Williams has an offer from Colorado State at Pueblo.

New Coaches

Legendary coach Joe Kersting has come out of retirement and will coach the RBs and TEs for the Gauchos.

Former Gaucho player Frank Espinoza has come back to his alma mater to coach the d-line.
