Successful 2008 Season Translates to Post Season Success

The Glendale Community College Gauchos have wrapped up their 2008 season and to say it was a success is an understatement.

The Gauchos won their last three games, beating Pima 63-0, Mesa 16-8 and New Mexico Military 35-14, to finish their season 8-2. GCC is currently ranked #9 by the NJCAA.

The success on the field has translated to success off the field, in terms of post season awards and scholarship offers.

The Gauchos were well represented on the WSFL and ACCAC all conference selections. Here are those teams:

Here is a recruiting update on some of the players from this year's team.

Winston Venable - Venable led the team in tackles from his safety spot and received interest from schools including Colorado State and Nevada before committing to Boise State.

Brandon Harris - The North Canyon product started 20 games at OT over the past two years for GCC. He has offers from SE Missouri State and Texas Southern. He has officially visited SEMO.

JJ Sanchez - JJ dominated from his nose guard spot. He has been offered by SEMO and tripped there. He also has a visit set up with Charleston Southern.

Adam Stewart - Another two year starter at OT. Stewart has been offered by Central Missouri State and visited there. He will also visit Midwestern State.

Alex Licano - Played DE in GCC's 3-3 defense but is being recruited as a DT. Has been offered by Idaho State and Charleston Southern.

Rajric Coleman - The CB from Agua Fria holds offers from Portland State and Texas Southern.

Adam Beauchamp - The former Bradshaw Mountain RB made a successful transition to LB for GCC and has been offered and will trip to Missouri State.

Jarrid Nash - Nash transferred to Glendale from D2 Upper Iowa but after just one year with the Gauchos, holds a 1AA offer from Idaho State.
