Former Gauchos called up to the Major Leagues
Eddie Bonine, who pitched at GCC in the 2000 and 2001 seasons, was recently called up to the major leagues by the Detroit Tigers. Bonine made his major league debut on June 14th, starting against the Los Angeles Dodgers and earning a victory. He started again on June 19th against the San Diego Padres, and did not get a decision despite only allowing two runs in the 7 innings of work. You can follow Bonine's major league progress by going to the Detroit Tigers website. Bonine is the fourth former Gaucho to reach the major league, joining Paul LoDuca (Dodgers, Marlins, Mets, Nationals), Jeff Huson (Expos, Rangers, Cubs) and Randy McCament (Giants).
