Football Wins 2009 Valley of the Sun Bowl
In a defensive struggle, the Gauchos won a hard-fought Valley of the Sun Bowl game on December 5, defeating Dean College by a score of 10-9. The Gauchos used a first quarter field goal by Jordan Sanchez and a second quarter, 25 yd. touchdown run by D'Angelo Jones to take a 10-6 halftime lead, and were able to keep the Bulldogs out of the end zone in the 2nd half to earn the victory. The win improved the Gauchos' final won-loss record for the 2009 season to 7-5, and improved their Valley of the Sun Bowl record since the Bowl's inception in 1981 to 11 wins and 5 losses.
