Gauchos drop one in Douglas

The Gaucho Women's soccer team took the trek to Douglas on Wednesday and came back with another hard fought loss to the Aztecs 3-2. "We came out flat again, and it cost us again." said Head Coach Michelle DiMeola. "We had our opportunities again to put them away and we just couldn't do it."

The Gauchos tied the game at 1-1 before Cochise added a goal right before half time to regain some of the momentum. The Gauchos tied the game with 15 minutes left to play in the second half. After a penalty kick from Cochise sailed high, the Gauchos had the door left wide open for them, they added a couple of late runs at the goal but came up empty. The Aztecs scored the game winner with 30 seconds left to play.

"This definitely was the most disappointing loss of the season, we had an opportunity to get a huge win on the road and we just couldn't grab it." This marks the Gauchos second loss to the Aztecs on the season, both games with a heartbreaking score of 3-2.

"I keep telling the team that a game of soccer is 90 minutes not 89:30. With the remaining games we have left we need to take this game and learn from our mistakes because now it's do or die every game if we want to have a chance at the playoffs. We are just one goal away each game in order for us to get the victory. We need to keep fighting and things will fall our way." The Gauchos will look to bounce back on Saturday when they play host to Chandler-Gilbert at 10 a.m.
