Mike Planeta Signs With Baltimore Orioles
Freshman outfielder Mike Planeta, who came to Glendale CC from Willow Canyon High School, has signed a professional baseball contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization. Planeta was drafted in the 26th round of the recent Major League Baseball free agent draft and will begin his career in Bluefield, West Virginia which is in the Appalachian League. In the 2009 season for the Gauchos, Planeta hit .327 with 73 hits, 17 doubles, 10 triples and 44 RBI.
