Baseball & Softball players voted All-Region, All-ConferenceThree baseball players represented the Gauchos for the 2009 season with All-Region, All-Conference selections. Catcher Miles Kizer from Barry Goldwater was named 1st Team All-Conference. In 196 at-bats Kizer hit .398 with 52 rbi's(Conference Leader) and 14 doubles. Outfielder Tyler Falco was also named 1st Team All-Conference. In 172 at-bats Falco hit .384 with 46 runs scored (5th in Conference). Thomas Brendel represented the Guachos by making All-Region Utility. Brendel hit .352 on the season and had 5 wins with an era of 2.8 on the mound.
Four softball players were voted All-Region for the Gauchos. Freshman Pitcher Kirstin Linert, Sophomore Pitcher Kayla Carlson, Freshman Catcher Rachel Villa, and Sophomore Shortstop Karena Brown. Carlson finished the season with a 10-5 record and an era of 2.9. Villa hit .411 in 180 at-bats and threw out some of the fastest base runners in the conference. Brown, who also made 3rd Team All-Conference, hit .456, led the conference with 26 doubles and led the country with 43 walks. Linert won 10 games for the Gauchos on the mound and also hit .462 with 17 stolen bases. Linert made 2nd Team All-Conference and is going to represent the Gauchos as an All-American Nominee.
