Athletics: Women's Basketball

Timi Brown begins her first season as the Gaucho's Head Women's Basketball Coach. Over the past five years, Coach Brown was the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Mesa State College in western Colorado.
Her teams at Mesa State were highly competitive, with numerous players earning all-conference, and one player receiving Player of the Year honors. Brown's teams consistently earned team GPA's of 3.0 or higher throughout her tenure. Prior to Mesa State, Coach Brown spent three seasons as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas. Brown was 65-31 in her three seasons at Odessa, with her 2003-04 team winning the WJCAC conference with a 25-5 overall record, finishing in the NJCAA national rankings and earning Brown WJCAC Coach of the Year honors. Timi began her coaching career as a head coach at San Pasqual High School in San Diego, California, where she helped lead her team to two southern section conference championships in her first two years. At the college level, she served as an assistant coach at Fullerton College and Rio Hondo College in California, each for two years, and the University of Northern Colorado for one season. After successful seasons, Coach Brown became the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Monterey Peninsula College in 1999. In her first season at Monterey, she helped guide her team to a Coast Conference Championship and a top 20 ranking. Throughout her career, Coach Brown has coached two junior college All-Americans and many of her players have gone on to earn Division I basketball scholarships. Coach Brown holds her Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Bachelor's Degree with an Exercise Physiology emphasis from the University of Arizona. She played at the University of Arizona from 1986-1991 and left the U of A as the All-time leading scorer in UA women's basketball history. She also holds the single game scoring record of 35 points. Timi is also a certified Health and Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.



Laura Stratton is excited to be at Glendale College as an assistant to Coach Brown. She comes to Phoenix from Mesa State College in Grand Junction where she worked as an assistant women's basketball coach under Coach Brown.
Prior to Laura's stay in Grand Junction, she started at Western New Mexico University in Silver City where she worked as assistant women's basketball coach for two years. While in Silver City, Laura earned a Master's Degree in Counseling and Educational Leadership. Laura played basketball for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Her team earned invitations to the NCAA tournament 3 years and the NIT tournament once. In her final year at BYU, the women's basketball team had their best record in history at 26-6. They were the Mountain West conference champions and played into the second round of the NCAA tournament. Laura currently holds two school records. She is an NSCA All American and received the prestigious Leona Holbrook "Spirit of Sport Award." While at BYU Laura trained both the women's and men's volleyball teams. She also trained the rugby team and worked as the conditioning coach for a semi-pro men's soccer team. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching. Laura originally hails from Missoula, Montana.



Coach Brokaw comes to Glendale CC from the state of Oregon where he was an assistant basketball coach for 5 years at Western Oregon University, a D2 school in Monmouth, OR.
He spent one year with the men's basketball program and two 2 year stints with the women's program. During his stay, Coach Brokaw was an important piece in turning the WOU women's basketball program around, helping them to become a very competitive opponent in the powerful GNAC Conference. He also spent 1 year as an assistant coach at D3 Willamette University and 1 year at Chemeketa Community College, both in Salem, Oregon. While at Chemeketa he helped guide their team to win the NWAACC Championship. Coach Brokaw is no stranger to ACCAC basketball. He spent 2 years as an assistant women's basketball coach at Arizona Western College (AWC) while also taking on teaching duties. During the summers Coach Brokaw spends most of his time working at basketball camps back home in Oregon, helping young players develop their basketball skills. He is a graduate of Western Oregon University where he received his teaching degree in physical education (1994). He also received his master's degree from Arizona State University in Physical Education (1997).
