Timi Brown Hired as Women's Basketball Coach

After a successful basketball career at the University of Arizona, where she held the single game scoring record and most career points upon graduation, Coach Brown began her coaching career as a head coach at San Pasqual High School in San Diego, California. At San Pasqual she led her team to two southern section conference championships in her first two years. Brown moved to the college level after that where she served as an assistant coach at Fullerton College and Rio Hondo College in California, each for two years, and the University of Northern Colorado for one season. Coach Brown became the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Monterey Peninsula College in 1999. In her first season at Monterey, she helped guide her team to a Coast Conference Championship and a top 20 ranking while listing all-conference players and one All-American.
In 2001 Brown became the Head Coach at Odessa Junior College in Odessa, Texas. At Odessa her players earned national recognition not only on the court, but off it as well. Many of her players transferred to Division I institutions and her teams were consistently ranked nationally by the NJCAA Coaches Poll and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll. Brown was named the WJCAC Coach of the Year in 2004 when she had several all-conference players and one All-American.
Brown moved to the DII level at Mesa State where she has spent the last five seasons as head coach of the Mavericks. In five years at Mesa State, her teams consistently improved with several players being named to the RMAC all-conference team, as well as the RMAC all-academic team. She also coached a Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year. Her teams were always successful in the classroom as 95% of Brown’s athletes earned their degree upon graduation. While at Mesa State Coach Brown also served as the Co-Director of the Mesa State Basketball Camps.
Coach Brown holds her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Exercise Physiology from the University of Arizona. She is also a certified Health and Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
